On-Train Testing

Introduction:

Most, if not all propagation models have difficulty dealing with the railway environment. Therefore, true and accurate measurements are a major requirement for all radio planners. Tunnels and cuttings prove to be extremely harsh environments in which to emulate a base station, with measurements on board trains, additionally cumbersome and requiring a high level of work ethic dedication.

The Engineers at Cellular Asset Management have had many years experience in the railway environment and have developed methodologies and techniques to enable data collection in the harshest of environments, not least, on train measurements.
